Description: A very nice Ixtlan Del Rio matched pair. The Shaman male sits resting arms on knees, wears a dog skin headdress, nose ring and ear ornaments. He is tattooed and is in a trance like state. The paint on these figures is excellent. The female stands with arms at sides, wears similar ear ornaments, a detailed and well painted necklace. The female also wears a decorative tumpline and is carring a large vessel on her back.
The final stage in becoming a Shaman was the taking of a bride, these matched figures represent that final stage. Manganese / dendrite deposits remain on the surface.
