Description:
Carved limestone mummiform figure carved with relief arms crossed at chest above a column of hieroglyphic inscription translated to: "The illuminate one, the Osiris, the lady fo the house, (named) Iry, the justified .... The jutting round face is modeled with a bulbous nose, and full lips, framed by a tripartite wig, with some remaining traces of black pigment highlights and ocher face. Surface with traces of red-brown pigment highlights, weathered, with paint lost, otherwise intact. Provenance: Private NYC collection, ex. Christies, NYC.,12/6/01, lot 233
