Description: Canopas were carved from solid hard stone, typically black with central hole in their backs, the holes were then filled with coca leaves and animal tallow. These were then thrown into the fields in an offering to the mother god (Pacchamama) to ask for a healthy breeding season and crops. This particular variety is of the much rarer white stone and is that of a Alpaca and not a Llama, detailed facial features, nostrils and a slight smile. A large and excellent example.
