Ca. 200 BC – 200 AD
Description: A great life sized mask Chicama and Virú Valleys of north Peru most accurately described at Salinar. This realistically formed mask of a male is done in buff clay and drilled around the edges for cloth mounting. The ears are pierced and he has a nose ring. There are no eye holes so we know this mask was for the afterlife. A great piece of art on a great custom steel stand.
