Ca. ca. A.D. 1300 -1450
Description: Canopas were carved from solid hard stone, typically black with central hole in their backs, the holes were then filled with coca leaves and animal tallow. These were then thrown into the fields in an offering to the mother god (Pacchamama) to ask for a healthy breeding season and crops. This particular variety is of the much rarer black and yellow speckled stone, very detailed facial features and teeth exposed. A fine example.
