Description: Ex- Southwest Archeological Institute Museum, Alamogordo, N.M. A large and well drawn Mimbres negative bowl. These negatives are very rare, defined as having more black than white this shallow bowl has a central flower with four lightning bolts radiating from center. Fine line bands zigzag around bowl, a great display piece. Unlike the Mogollon, who often buried numerous vessels with their dead, the Mimbres usually provided only a single bowl, ritually "killed" by punching a hole in the bottom to release the spirit. For an additional fee a custom steel stand can be constructed for display. Legally purchased from a private collection, legal release and disclosure accompanies the piece. 27-15
Condition: Quarter sized kill holes repaired and two additional quarter sized holes repaired, 8% total.
