Description: Ex- Southwest Archeological Institute Museum, Alamogordo, N.M. A large and well drawn Mimbres black on white geometric bowl. Large interlocking bold motifs connecting to large fine line filled motifs. This design is typically referred to as a "Marriage symbol". Many Archeologists believe that these bowls were apart of the marriage ceremonies of the ancients. Unlike the Mogollon, who often buried numerous vessels with their dead, the Mimbres usually provided only a single bowl, ritually "killed" by punching a hole in the bottom to release the spirit. For an additional fee a custom steel stand can be constructed for display. Legally purchased from a private collection, legal release and disclosure accompanies the piece. 5-11

Condition: One 3 inch x 1 inch piece restored, less than 2% of the entire bowl!
