Description: This textile feels like a soft, silky blanket, but, from a design standpoint, it’s a seminal example of what’s to come - the now famous Navajo rug. With white borders drawn in the negative, and twin bordered elements within, it looks to the future while being composed entirely of elements from the past – halved diamonds and inverted diamonds forming hourglass motifs. At once historic and thoroughly modern, this blanket is emblematic of the creativity and adaptability of Navajo woven art.
